A Statement of Significance analyses the development and building history of a church, describing important features objectively so that its special character is fully understood and appreciated. A well-researched Statement is a key document in a faculty petition and partners a Statement of Need prepared and written by the parochial church council.
Artemis Heritage can prepare a Statement of Significance to help a PCC to understand what is important about a church building inside and out. The Statement can include an assessment of the impact on the building’s significance of the changes proposed in the Statement of Need. Because the two documents work in tandem, our Statement of Significance allows parishes to reflect on and refine options in their Statement of Need; this will increase the chances of securing a parish’s objectives for change.
"Your work is first class – I read the Steeple Aston statement of significance.... It is incredibly comprehensive and authoritative and will be helpful in shaping the emerging architectural proposals."
